PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil is an ingredient that is used as a non-ionic solubilizer, emulsifier, surfactant, emollient and cleansing agent in cosmetics and personal care product formulations.
It is obtained from the polyethylene glycol derivatives of hydrogenated castor oil.
It is soluble in both water and oil, and typically is used to solubilize and emulsify formulations that contain water and oil (oil-in-water formulations).
It boasts foam-enhancing properties which makes it fantastic for use in foaming products and liquid cleansers, plus its softening and soothing properties make for a perfect addition to moisturisers and hair products.
PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oils surfactant ability helps to decrease the surface tension between liquids or liquids/solids, making it popular for body and face cleansers to help remove and wash away oils, grease & dirt, as well as creating a protective and hydrating barrier on the skins surface.
